Re: Deborah?

I like it but wouldn't use it on my own child simply because it would be weird and confusing having a daughter w/ the same first name. It's had its ups and downs in popularity, but is so old it's kind of timeless even though its excessive use in the 50s and 60s may cause some in our culture to think it dated... my mn's Ruth (with my name and my appearance, the Jews sometimes take me for Jewish)... a friend's daughter is Deborah Rose (and I love it on her)... Deborah Anne might be a little awkward with the a sounds too close together...
What works best will depend on family name... Keep in mind, a few years back, Ruth, Ivy and Josephine were thought dated and seem to be back.

Joanne
Charleen (Charlene)
Karlene
Laurel (pronounced like Laurelle)
Noelle
Janelle
Karen
Note: I quit going by Debbie in the '80s 'cause I preferred fullnames... and for various reasons I still refuse to answer to Debbie...
