Emma or Kate?
which is the better name? (assuming Kate is used as a nn?)

Katherine "Kate", else Emma.
Kate! I dislike Emma immensely
Emma
Emma /nt/
Emma, but i LOVE Kate
Emma.
I dislike Kate, even if it's just a nn. Cate, Katie, Katy, Kitty, Kath, Kathy, Kathie...? Yes. Kate? No.

Kate... definitely Kate... even if I wasn't tired of Emma.
Emma
I don't think one is particularly better than the other. I personally prefer Kate because I think its stronger and Emma just makes me think of a maid or my cousins's dog. However I think both are classic and sweet.
Emma
I understand why she's so popular. She's beautiful. :-)

Personally, I like Kate. I like it as a name on its own, or as a nn for Kathleen. (Not a big fan of Kaitlyn or Katherine).
Kate!
I love all names related to Katherine, so Kate definitely wins here.

Emma is sweet is sweet but she's everywhere. Just Emma and as a NN for the oh so popular Emily.
Kate is alright. She doesn't wow me. As a NN for Katherine, she's ok. But I prefer just Katherine or the NN Kay.

Kate. I also like Kate as a full name. I dislike Emma, I think it's very unattractive.
