I'd think it was a girl. It's so popular for girls that I'd be surprised to see it on a boy. I don't like it at all on a girl, especially because of the -son ending (I also dislike Addison, Alison etc) and because it's so trendy. I dislike it on a boy as well. I think it's too masculine for a girl and too feminine (maybe because of its nickname Maddie) for a boy.

Yeah I think it's bad on a boy. Just as bad as on a girl. But a girl named Madison would have it way easier so I'd prefer it on a girl.
