Re: Alvilda or Yvaine?

Yvaine is interesting. I haven't read Stardust, so I'm basing this purely on the name's sound. I guess you could say it means "Yew" from the same root as Yves with the feminine ending ~aine. I am not really a fan on Yvonne, Yves, etc., although there is certainly something very intriguing about Y-as-a-vowel at the beginning of a name.
On the other hand, I like Alvilda an awful lot. Actually all three of those names are on my PNL- I love the meaning- I have this really amusing mental image of Santa's little elves at it pub-brawl styles. I guess I find Alwilda the most unmanageable of the three, and I like Alfhild for the nn Hilda and Alvilda for the nn Alvy. But I guess I'm drawn to Alvilda the most lately.
Anyway: In summary, I prefer Alvilda, but if I ever get my hands on a copy of Stardust then Yvaine might win me over too.
