Harlow
What do you all think of Harlow for a girl? I think it's sweet.Do you see it catching on? Do you know anyone named Harlow? How old are they? Middle names?Do you think it could make the top 100? Will it be the next Ava?

Truthfully, I think it is sweet, too. I love the long O sound (like Bear and our Margot) and the soft RL. I don't mind the meaning or surnameyness, though I do automatically thing of celebrity tyndeeness. I also like Marlow, but I don't think that could be pulled off as easily. I don't see Harlow getting hugely popular, but I am sure it will have at least a spike. We'll see!

i love Harlow for a little girl, i can't imagine it on a boy!I think it will catch on, the same as Shiloh. I reckon Shiloh & Harlow will be in the top 100 in the next few years.I love the combo Harlow Evangeline :)

I don't like it at all, sorry. It just looks tacky, not very feminine and reminds me of "harlot".

I like it, spelled Harlowe though.
I do see it catching on, ever since Nicole Ritchie's baby. I liked it before that though.

I kinda like it just because it reminds me of Jean Harlow. It makes me think of Sleepy Hollow too, which is another nice mental image. Harlow would also sound pretty nice on a boy.

I hate it for many reasons..1. It is a celebrity-inspired name.2. It is a surname3. It is a surname that means 'hill with a heap of rocks'.4. It looks/sounds like 'harlot'.5. It is cutesy for some reason.

I think it's really cutesy and overly influenced by current celebrity baby-naming trends. I do see it gaining some popularity, though I think it'll fall short of other celebrity baby names like top-5 Ava, and even below mid-range favorites like Maddox and Ryder. I do not know any Harlows personally, but Nicole Richie has Harlow Winter Kate and Patricia Arquette has Harlow Olivia Calliope.

I agree. And I don't like it at all. The sound is very unpleasant.

I have to confess a certain attraction for the name Harlow, because of old Hollywood actress Jean Harlow. (Poor thing, she died too young.) I can't get behind it for an actual fn, but I do understand the allure.Paris Hilton's ex-BFF, Nicole Richie (sp?), named her dd Harlow so I'm sure it will be replicated elsewhere. (One of the mns she chose was Winter, if I remember correctly.) Female names ending in an "o" sound seem to be on the rise. (Yay!) But I don't see Harlow getting into the top 100. It's definitely not the next Ava.

I like Harlow for a girl. I see it as classy, kind of like Harper. I would pair it with a possibly Victorian-era, girly mn.
