1. Girl: sure... I have a good friend named Summer and it suits her. (and she's glad her parents didn't call her Jennifer 'cause her cousin got that one first)
Boy: definitely not... name's too girly2. Take you pick to combine with either name as you so choose:Theresa

Melissa

Oh, I really do love Summer. I used to be quite neutral about it, but lately it's just done a massive jump to become one of my top 5. As with Hazel, I much prefer it for a girl, but as a word name it's fine on either gender IMO. I'd probably be quite pleased to meet a boy Summer.Summer Elodia
Summer Alaia
Summer Sophia
Summer Eloise
Summer Leonie
Summer Evangeline
Summer Imogen
Summer TallulahUgh, thats actually a hard one to pair up. I'm not happy with all of those, but I'll leave them there anyway.

I love it so muchSummer is such a gorgeous, adorable girls' name. I've always really liked it. I really like to pair it with names that are a bit more natural and sometimes phrasey and/or song-like. They just seem to go nicely.Summer Soleil (in otherwords, Summer Sun. I think it's cute.)

Summer Lapis Lazuli
Summer Juno

Summer Citrine
Summer Lilac
Summer PersephoneAs you can see, I really like to play around with Summer. I wouldn't use most of the combos I made here, but I really love them. They remind me of singing. I'm not sure why.

I like Summer a lot - I don't quite adore it but as a mn for Evangeline I'm head over heels in love. Evangeline Summer will likely be my first daughter although I like it with my other favourite names too - Matilda Summer, Eleanor Summer, Charlotte Summer...For Scarlet I feel a simpler, softer name is necessary. Maybe something like Scarlet Lucille? Scarlet Marianne?

I like it on a girl. I think it's a bit trendy, though and I've already met quite a few little girls named Summer. I prefer Winter.I know a girl named Summer Rain and one named Summer Rose. I like Summer Eleanor, Summer Fay, Summer Jessamine, Summer Louise, Summer Amanda and Summer Isabelle.

Summer Hermione is wonderful. Why didn't I think of that? [I promise I didn't peak at yours before I suggested mine. We have a few in common. :-) ]
