Sioned
I was watching an episode of "Cadfael" the other evening, "A Morbid Taste for Bones."
For those who are unfamiliar, it's a TV mystery series based on books. They are set in the 1100's England during the time of the civil war between Queen Maud / Matilda and King Stephen. The sleuth is a monk named Cadfael who uses reason while everyone around him is mired in superstition. I highly recommend the series.
Anyway, this particular episode takes place in Wales. The main female character's name intrigued me. They called her, "SHAWN-ett." Like a dutiful name nerd I read through the credits to find it is spelled Sioned.
So, this is a very long-winded way of asking you what you think of Sioned. It is a variant of Sian, and roughly equivalent to English Janet.
I'm not seriously considering using Sioned, don't worry. It just strikes me as very pretty and a nice mn for the right combination. Care to come up with any combos?

I has half of one of those shows once in English class, but I never was able to find the rest of it. I was fascinated with it too, now I'll have to renew my search. :)
I really like Sioned actually. I like Sian a little bit more but both names are quite appealing. I'm having trouble with combos today but I think it sounds best with three syllable names.
Alyssa Sioned
Bethany Sioned
Valerie Sioned
Caroline Sioned
Julia Sioned
Catriona Sioned
Michaela Sioned
Priscilla Sioned

Hmm, I really like it, especially the way they prn it. I always thought it was SHOW-ned, and that never appealed to me. I'd anglicize the spelling, but other than that it's a great name.
Thanks for the feedback.
I expected to see it spelled Sianet or Sianed. I googled that and there is a female musician / Actress named Sianed Jones. I'm not sure what the Anglicised form would be. Do you?
The credits to the TV episode and BTN database use Sioned so that's what I'm going with.

The best anglicized spelling I can think of would be Shawnet.
Ooo -- I wouldn't like Shawnette either. Visually very unappealing.
But I would pronounce them differently. Shawnette looks like the stress should be on the second syllable, unlike Sioned.
Shawnette makes me think of paper towels, for some reason. :-/
