is not so strange to me. I am a big Sailor Moon dorkus, though, and the first time I'd heard the name was on a male cat.
Could that have been an influence on your roommate's "obsession"?

Nope. She's more a Disney channel girl. She's actively ruining the name Hannah for me; every time I say it, she follows it up with Montana (grrr!).
