Jonas?
WDYT of Jonas? It is really appealing to me at the moment. I like that it is very recognisable but unusual.
My main problem is the Jonas Brothers association...do you think it will increase in popularity because of them? And is it too closely associated with them?
Also do you prefer Jonas or Jonah and why?

Much prefer Jonah to Jonas.

I love Jonas and I prefer it over Jonah. Sadly, I think it could increase in popularity because of the Jonas Brothers and a lot of people will come to associate it with them. :-(
Bla, I hate the name Jonas. It is incredibly overused where I live and the Jonas Brothers haven't even caught on yet (thank God). Plus, it just sounds awkward and ugly.
I still like the name. I wasn't really affected by Jonas Brothers mania. Plus, since it's their last name I feel like it's different somehow. I predict that they'll be a flash in the pan just like NSYNC and Hanson before them. Sure, there'll still be diehard fans who hang on to the band from age 13 to 25, but that's a really small segment of the population. By the time baby Jonas is big enough to be teased... I really doubt it'll be because of the band.
Personally, Jonas reminds me of the book The Giver. And it's a more grown up version of Jonah. I don't like Jonah very much. Most Jonah's I've known were troublemakers. However, I knew one Joonas (spelled like that) from Finland, he was really cool, played a mean Irish tin whistle and had a cool accent. :)

I liked Jonas before the Jonas Brothers mainly because I'm a huge music nerd and love Weezer.
I do think it's a good name but, unfortunately, the association to the band kills it for me. As of right now and in the coming year, it's popularity may increase but I don't see it being anywhere near the top of "the most used names" list.
I prefer Jonas over Jonah. I'm not sure why, though, considering there's only a single letter difference between the two.
