Because I really love both names. Gabriel is so strong and masculine and I love the nn Gabe and then there's Gideon, which is also strong and masculine and not something you hear very often. I'd be more inclined to go with Gideon, just because I have an aunt and cousins with the surname of Gabriel.

I love this name. I don't care for Gideon, it sounds really weird to me. I love Gabriel Alexander the best, though Gabriel Augustin, Gabriel Simon, and Gabriel Scott are really nice too.

I don't dislike Gabriel but the angel connotation puts me off. I quite like the nn Gabe though.

Oh, tough choice. I love them both. I think I tend to prefer them as MNs, though. I think a lot of these MNs are interchangable with either Gideon or Gabriel.
