Diana
What do people think of this
Will Princess Diana have to be dead for decades for this to be usable again?

Like it a lot. It's one of my favourites at the moment (but my favourites change like every few weeks so that's not saying much!). I would spell it 'Dianna' (with 2 ns), though.
Definately useable and very pretty. One of my favs.
I like the name Diana. I think it's a name with so many historical and literary associations that no single one dominates. For example, I think of the goddess and the character in Anne of Green Gables - not to mention the several Dianas that I know in real life- before the princess. So, I think the name is absolutely usable, and always has been.
I don't love the name, personally, but it's definitely usable. In fact, I don't think it was ever not usable.
I think it's plenty usable now, and the rankings seem to agree. It's a fairly common name, and there are a lot of other Dianas out there. Sure, Princess Diana is a fairly strong connection, but I don't know that everyone's mind jumps immediately to her. Mine doesn't, at least.
I think Diana is really pretty and usable. I actually think of the Anne of Green Gables books first before I think of the late princess.
Oddly, Princess Diana's popularity never sparked a wave of little Dianas, either during her lifetime or after it.
Therefore, I say "Go for it if you like it!"
The only hiccup for me with the name is that "die" sound. Perhaps that puts people off.
I think many people are as likely to think of the legendary Miss Ross as the Princess of Wales when they hear the name Diana.

I do not like the name at all.
I don't think that when people hear this name they will think of Princess Diana. People still name their children Elizabeth and don't think of Queen Elizabeth.

It never "stopped" being usable as far as I know. I like Diana a lot it's a GP of mine.
