I think of the character from "A Separate Peace", then I think of Julia Roberts' baby. :b But I LOVE the name; I hope it won't be considered trendy now b/c a celeb has used it. BTW, I like the Phineas spelling best.

Yes! I have never heard came across a child called Phinneas (not sure how she spelled it) before so she is the only connection that I, and many other people make with the name.

I don't think Roberts at all. I think it is a bit old fashioned but not too much. In my community (Jewish) Phineas / Pinchas is very common.

No, I don't think of Julia Roberts; I think of Phineas "Finn" from the novel "A Seperate Peace". It's a wonderful name, and not too old fashioned. :-)

What? I never think of Julia Roberts when I hear Phineas! How silly! I think it has life and vigor and isn't very old-fashioned. It has an Irish edge to it because is sounds like Finnian or Finnegan but it so cool! I love it!!!

I do immediately think of Julia Roberts (it is the name of one of her twins--the other is Hazel I think) when I hear this name but I do like it and the nn Phin or Finn. ----Betsy-----

I don't think of Julia Roberts at all. [in fact I don't know what Julia has to do with Phineas, lol]
Nor do I think it old fashioned. However, I dislike the name because it makes me think of the male body part that is an anagram of it, daft I know, but that's immediatley what springs to mind when I see or hear Phineas.
Perhaps it's just me!
