Islay
It's pronounced EYE-lay, right? Because if so I'm really liking it (for a boy, of course.) What are your opinions on Islay, great BtN masses?

It's interesting...might sound better pronounced EYE-lee?
Ditto to the pronunciation that Lethe gave. I don't care for Isla (it's really common in Scotland at the moment, 16th on the popularity charts for 2007, 232 girls named this), but think Islay (pronounced the way you say it, EYE-lay, is beautiful to look at and say... although for a girl, not a boy. 4 girls were named Islay in Scotland last year, but no boys.
I just wish I could find a spelling where it was obvious that it was supposed to be pronounced EYE-lay. Any way I try it other than Islay just looks ugly or incomplete, so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

it's IY-la (sorry)
Also it doesn't really matter but technically I put IY rather than EYE because if a Scot pronounced it, the 1st syllable doesn't sound the same as the word eye it's a much shorter sound, which I've heard only exists in Scots lol, so I would say however you pronounce the i in Bite.
I do like it on a girl but I'm not sure about a boy. Even though it's male, I've only known girls called Isla and since the pronunciation is the same and ends in a it's hard for me to put it on a boy. I think they would have problems (here anyway).
sorry if I ruined it :(

Nah, that's okay, it's better to find out than to grow to love it and be mispronouncing it!
I only found indefinitive answers in Name Facts so it's nice to know.
On the plus though I do adore Isla for a girl :)
