Maya
Just wondering what you thought of Maya. I rather like it but it has become a bit popular. I do however think that its popularity is declining so it might be safe to use in 10 years or so when I'll have children.
I do prefer Maia over Maya. Do you think I'd have to correct people o the spelling all the time ? which one is your favorite, Maia, Maya, Mya, Maja ? Do you pronounce it MY-ah as well ?
Maia vs ....
Which one do you like best
Maia
Kaia
Gaia
and which spellings do you prefer ?
Do you know anyone named Maya, Kaia or Gaia ? how do they spell it and how old are they ?
is Kaia too trendy ? will Maia sound dated ? is Gaia too weird ? I pr. them MY-ah, KY-ah and GAY-ah (pretty sure it's supposed to be pr. that way)...gay jokes ?
Which ones will become more popular ? do you think Maya will decline in popularity ? will Kaia rise ? Gaia ? and which spellings will be most common ? Kya, Kaya, Kaia ?

Our 4yo daughter is named Maya (MY-ah).
If people are introduced to her before they see her name written down they pronounce it corrently. If they see her name written down first they pronounce it like May-a and lots of people call her Mia. I think probably 3 people out of 10 pronounce it right on the first go.
I love the name, it really suits my daughter & isn't as popular here in Australia as it is in the US although I think it is probably increasing in popularity.

I prefer the Maia spelling and I prefer the name over Kaia and Gaia. I know someone named Gaia (prn. GY-ah) and I think she is in her 50s. I think Maya has the best chance of becoming more popular.
I like the name a lot and I actually don't mind Maya, Maia or Mya. I'd probably be more inclined to use the Maia spelling though. As for the pronunciation, I do say MY-ah.
Out of Maia, Kaia and Gaia, Maia would be my fave, but Kaia is a close second. I don't think Kaia is too trendy and certainly don't think Maia sounds dated, not at all. Gaia is nms. I could see Kaia, Kaya, Kya gaining popularity over the next few years. Don't think it will ever be as popular as Maya, Maia, Mya though.

I love Maya. I prefer the Maya spelling, but I like Maia too. Maja is fine if you live somewhere where it won't be misspelled and mispronounced all the time. I really dislike Mya. It looks tacky and dumbed down.
Maia is my favorite of those names. I like Gaia (I'm pretty sure it's GY-ah) in theory but it's a little much. Kaia is adorable and I adore it as a nickname, but as a full name it's really cutesy. GAY-ah is a horrible idea, sorry.

I think Maya is cute, but a little plain. I'd only use it as a nn for something.
I prefer the spelling Maya. I would probably end up pronouncing Maja MAY-ah, but I prn. the others MY-ah.
I like Maia and Kaia. I'm not sure which I prefer.
A girl I know uses Maya as a nn for Maria - or at least I think so. Now that I'm thinking about it, I can't remember if it's Maya or Mia... Either way, not sure of the spelling, and I guess she's about 14-16.
Kaia sounds kind of trendy, but it could definitely be toned down with a classic mn, as long as the masses don't get ahold of it before then (as far as I know, it isn't popular yet - I may be wrong). I highly doubt Maia would sound dated - it's too simple and it sounds rather timeless to me. Gaia reminds me of a teacher I dislike - Gaetha (not sure of the spelling), so I myself would never use it. Gay jokes would probably result, as well.
Kaia will probably rise in popularity. I can definitely see that, but I don't know what spelling. Probably Kya, since it's the most basic. I don't think Gaia will be rising any, and since I'm not sure where Maya is on the popularity charts right now, I have no idea which way it will go.

Maya is best.
I don't like Maya (and all variations thereof) too much. It seems really unsubstantial. That said, I like the spelling Maja the best. I do pronounce all variants MAH-yah.
I know one Maya and one Maja. Maya is about 17 or 18 years old now, I guess, and Maja would be around twelve. Maya liked her name if people didn't spell it Maja, Maja didn't.
Out of Maia, Kaia and Gaia, I like Kaia best, though I prefer Kaja. I pronounce both versions KAH-yah. I also like Gaia (GAH-yah). I do think Kaya has the potentional to become really trendy.
