WDYTO Tertius?
Tertius was the name of a character I saw in a movie once and I really liked the sound of it (and the handsome doctor) and was wondering if anyone else has ever heard of this name before.
It's pronounced TUR-shus or Tar-shus, by the way and is in the database! :)Do you know anyone with this name? Have you seen it used before?
Do you like it? Do you think you would ever consider using it on your son, pet, story character, ect.? What middle names would you suggest?
Thanks!

Tertius (tair-tyoos to me) is only ok on a non real person or a Ancient Roman man imo.

I'm on the persnickety side, so I pronounce this TER-shee-us (I hate skipping vowel sounds). It's in a book I read, he was a third boy and his older siblings were named Primus and Secundus. I like this name; it seesaws around on my list because I'm a little hesitant about using number-names. Otherwise it's great!

I've never heard it, but I can't say I find it very attractive. Sorry. And it just makes me think of the word tertiary.

I don't really like the name, because its meaning implies (at least historically) that some parents didn't feel the need to name their son so just called him the third-born. I've seen this used in it's feminine form, Tertia, third-born (and unappreciated) daughter in a historical fiction novel set in Rome. I've never heard it used in the modern day."Les yeux sont aveugles. Il faut chercher avec le coeur." -- Le Petit Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery
