Twins from TV
There was a family I saw on TV who had three sets of twins. I only saw a few minutes and didn't pay much attention, but the middle set were two very cute little boys named Sean and ? (pronounced it like Saoirse). I was quite confused, as to my knowledge Saoirse is completely a girl's name. He didn't say Seoirse, he said Saoirse. They were American though, so maybe they were confused or thought that no one would figure it out. It got me to thinking about how a kid with a very Irish name would do in the US. Get asked how to pronounce and spell their name a lot, I suppose. The other twins were Aquila and Keanu, and Joseph and Christopher (all boys). Quite the mismatched lot.

If I'm not mistakenmom is German, dad is Irish, & they are living in the US. And aren't the other twins from her first marriage?

Wow, it's like they picked a different orgin for each set of twins! Odd combined all together although I like them all except Aquila.

I've always wanted to like Irish names, but I've found that so many of them have either an unpronounceable spelling (Gaelic to American English), or they just sound harsh on my ear. There are a few favorites of mine though, and Sean is one of them. Are you from Ireland? My search for Irish names that I can love has been very disappointing to me. Maybe I haven't looked in the right places.

No, I'm American. I love Irish names though, although I don't know if I'd really use any because my family isn't Irish enough. :)

LOL and that's why I wanted to use one! My family is Irish enough... but I just can't pull off a Bláthnaid or a Donnchadh or even just a Seamus. They're just not working for me. And the endless list of popular girls names that end in "een" are just too much. Maureen, Aileen, Cathleen... nice names, but not for me.
