German and very nicknamey. In fact it is a nickname. I wouldn't use it as a full name.

It is a nickname but it doesn't seem nicknameish to most people. In Germany it has been popular on its own. Nadia, Sonia, Natasha, Sasha and Ronia are nicknames as well. Only that Ronia also happens to be a Hebrew name meaning "joy of god", a full name in Israel. I think they all work well on their own.
