Kyriko
I saw this name on the list of kingergarteners this fall, and assumed we had a Japanese family move here and they had a daughter. I saw Kyriko walk down the hall with his birthday crown on. What do you think of the name? Would you have assumed that the kid was a Japanese girl too?

Well, I can guarantee just by looking at it that it isn't Jpns. because y is never a vowel in Jpns., but is always directly followed by one.
Actually it makes me think of Kyriakos right away so I would think greecian male only. Nice name.
First, I thought "Japanese girl."
Second, I realised that it would be spelled Kiriko if it was really Japanese.
So, strange.

I would've thought the same thing, a japanese girl.
No but only because of the Y. I find it feminine and don't get it on a boy.
I agree that y's in a name don't sound Japanese, but Americans like to change spellings of names too, so I didn't think about that. Just the sound of the name.
