It sounds like "nasty" and is better off as a nickname for Anastasia.

Like almost everyone else, I'm going to say that it puts me to mind of "nasty". Truthfully, even if it didn't make me think of nastiness, Nastia is such a harsh, cold name that I suspect I wouldn't like it anyway.

I don't think of a gymnast. I just think of a popular Russian name. I used to know a girl named Nastya, so I think of her too. This name is rather neutral to me. I would not use it, but I do not think its ugly.

Depending on the pronounciation I do not know. I pronounce it Nast-Ya making me think of the word nasty. So I actually don't like it.

I am not a fan of Nastia, Natasha, Natalia, Anastacia types names. I find that they lack dignity (just how I perceive them) and can be needlessly frilly. I also remember the Russian wh***e association with these names.

I never thought of it until Nastia Liukin but I LOVE it. Love it. Wouldn't use it because I can see all of the negative connotations fron english-speakers (Nasty) but I love it.

I can only see it as a nn for Anastasia, and I prefer it spelt Nastya. I think its prettiest when said with a Russian accent though.

It's fine as a nn for Anastasia (Nastia Liukin's full name) and if pronounced correctly. I wouldn't use it in an English speaking country, sounds like "nasty". Anastasia is much nicer.

My sister is Anastasia and occasionally goes by Nastya because of the Russian connection (she's extremely fluent in Russian and loves the culture). I think it does work better said disyllabically, NAS-cha, rather than leaving the 'nasty' in there. :) It's okay, anyway.

I sort of like it, but only pronounced NAHS-tya not NAS-tya. And it's best as a nn for Anastasia.

"Nasty" aside, it sounds like the name of a mean girl. I don't like it at all.

All I can think of is the word Nasty. Not very appealing at all.
