Brooke
What do you think of Brooke for a girl ? I like it. Is it still too common ? How many do you know and how old are they ? Do you think it'll be dated soon ? What kind of person do you imagine with that name ? Does it make a good middle name ? thanks :)Oh and what do you think of Brooklyn for a girl ? I dislike it but I'm worried that all little Brooklyns (it is really common now according to the popularity chart) will be called Brooke and not go by their full name which would make the name even more popular.

I like it, and it sounds refreshing in a sea of Madisons, Braydens, Nevaehs, and Cutters.

I don't know anyone named Brooke, but I'm in Scotland and it was little-used here until a couple of years ago. There are little girls called Brooke but they're not in my social circle, of course :)I think it's lovely. I tend to like it as a middle name, but either way... I picture a brook, which is nice, and yet it's somehow more substantial than a word name.It will likely be considered dated at some point in the future, but that depends on when it goes out of fashion.I loathe Brooklyn because it's a Beckham name to me, nothing more (I certainly haven't met one). Beckham anything is tacky in the extreme.

I was just thinking of Brooke lately. I prefer the spelling Brook I think, because something about Brooke just seems snotty to me. I don't know any Brookes personally, but the ones I have known of were mostly been older than me (I'm about to turn 19), or at least around the same age. I think it'd be adorable on a little girl. I think it makes a good filler mn (like Rose, Marie, Lynn, etc); but I prefer it as a fn. I like the nature-y look of Brook over Brooke. I like Brooklyn too, that's cute. I'm not too worried about popularity concerning Brooke or Brooklyn. As far as I know, the usage of the name hasn't reached overkill yet...you know like Ava or Lily.

I love the name Brooke but I don't know anyone personally with that name. I hate Brooklyn. It sounds cheap and makes me think of the place.

I like Brooke well enough. Brooklyn is so ugly though. IDK I don't think it will matter. The only one I know is a girl in my soccer team who would be...15 or 16 maybe.I also have good associations because of Brooke Fraser (singer), and Zinzan and Robin Brooke who are rugby players.

I find Brooke very preppy and androgynous, which really isn't my style. But I find Brooke much preferable to Brooklyn. You raise an interesting possibility when you ask about Brooke being a nickname for Brooklyn. Since Brooklyn just recently became popular, I'm really not sure how often Brooke is used for Brooklyn, but I imagine it would happen at least sometimes.

I adore Brooke. I don't find it dated. I think it's very clean and feminine sounding.I think most people who name their daughter Brooklyn are going to call them Brooklyn. Just my opinion.

My name is Brooke and I like it, but only in a non-US context. US Brookes (in TV shows, etc) tend to be stereotypical bimbo-ish cheerleader types, which I'm not a fan of. However, I like the name on me. I've met a couple of Brookes, and know of 2 or 3 more, all within 6 years of my age (I'm 20), but all quite different, so I don't have a specific image of a 'Brooke' (apart from me!). I've also noticed a few in the BAs here, so it probably isn't dated (not here in NZ anyway).
Its mn status would depend on what FN you used it with, a short staccato one wouldn't work, but a flowy one probably would.
As for Brooklyn, I'm not a fan, especially not on a girl. I hardly know of any girl Brooklyns, and I don't know of any Brooklyns (either sex) that go by Brooke.

I only like Brook as a NN for Brooklyn and only for a boy.

In my mind this name is very dated to my age group, although it might not be truly so. I know of 4 girls named Brooke in my grade at school although there are 562 people so it's arguably not that many. That places them at around 18 years old. Brooklyn is really cute and I like it, but it's a GP for me because its very trendy (lyn and place name) I don't think it would be shortened very often, but I definitely think it will be dated.

I only like Brooke and Brooklyn on boy's. I know one Brooke who is about 17-18. And about 4 who are between the ages of 5 and 13. All are girls.I imagine a Brooklyn would be called Brooke as a NN, but whether they would use that instead of their full name is hard to say.

I really like Brooke, it is very classy. I don't think it is dated, I've only known maybe 1 or 2 Brookes in my life...they were very pretty girls. Brooklyn is trendy and I dislike it...I don't think most of the Brooklyn's will be calle Brook or Brooke.

I don't like the name Brooke. I think it sounds ugly and masculine. I actually don't know any Brooke's but it is common with kids I think. I imagine a girly outgoing with the name. I think Brooke makes a good middle name

I like the IDEA of Brooke, but the name itself gives me the image of an empty-headed, shallow girl. Every Brooke I've ever met didn't have a whole lot going on upstairs (no offense to anyone here if that is your name). Also, the name is kind of stuck in the 80's; not necessarily a bad thing, but I think it's one of those names that needs some time to breathe before it comes back.I dislike Brooklyn for a girl or a boy. I think it's annoyingly trendy, and they probably will go by Brooke, anyway.
