Gwyneth
I like the name Gwyneth, and would really consider using it if it weren't for the Paltrow association.Do you think Gwyneth could work well on someone else? Or is it too strongly associated with Miss Paltrow? Thanks.

I like the name, but the Paltrow association is one of the things that holds me back about it. Its very sweet & sophisticated though.

I think you could get away with it. Right now it's very associated with her, and I associate it with her, but that's not really a bad thing. :b And in a few years, maybe she won't be as popular, etc. Also, you could spell it Gwenyth, and mostly call her Gwen, and maybe avoid a little of the Paltrow backlash. LOL. :b A know of two little girls named Gwyneth, but I don't know them personally (daughter of a friend of a friend, etc.) so I don't know how others react to the name. I do know that one, who is 4 or 5 years old, goes by Winnie, though.

I do think of Gwyneth Paltrow when I hear the name. Maybe it could be used in a few years if her popularity dies down. Or there's other alternative such as Gwenyth, Gwendolen, Guinevere, etc. -Amy-

I think that it could work on someone else, especially with the nn Gwyn or Gwen."No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

I like it, I like Gwen/Guin/Gwyn names in general, except Gwendolyn.
The celebrity in question seems a positive and not too strong association. If you have an unusual name and there's a celebrity who has it, it's convenient because then people can spell/remember it better. As long as they are not obnoxious or controversial.

When I read the name Gwyneth on the message boards I automatically think of Paltrow, but when I met someone at school named Gwyneth last semester,I didn't at all think of Gwyneth Paltrow. When it comes to real life situations and not hypothetical/wdyt situations, I don't associate it with the actress. It's a great name, so I say go for it!

I don't think it is too associated with Gwyneth Paltrow. She's certainly not what I'd think of when I heard the name.

I don't really care about celebrity associations when it comes to names, because obviously there are thousands of other people with the same one. I think Gwyneth is a nice name, I like the way it sounds. So, I'd use it.

I think that you could use the name Gwenyth on someone else, because you don't hear too much about Gwenyth Paltrow, and anyway, i always try to think if you like the name, then name your kid (or character or whatever) that!!
