It's ok as a nn, but silly as a full name.

It's way too cutesy, and not attractive sounding. Not to mention too tied to the fifties/sixties movie character. The movie character got the name because it was a cross between "girl" and "midget", so I think if you were to name your daughter Gidget and she turned out to be tall, it would seem inappropriate.

I had a Sim named Gidget once. I can't really take it seriously on a person. I'd be adorable on a little black Poodle.
