Josephine seems to flow better with Marilyn.

I like Caroline much, much better than Josephine, however, Marilyn and Caroline are way too similar to my way of thinking.

I love both Caroline and Josephine. It is impossible for me to decide. Maybe today I'll say Josephine.

Even though I know you would be pronouncing Caroline with the -line ending, I still think its ending is too close to Marilyn. I really love the name Caroline, not only because it's my name but because it isn't too common and it's classic. I really love Josephine too though, and I think I might like it more because it's more unusual. Where I'm from I hear Caroline a lot, but I'm in the southern US where Caroline is a staple traditional girls name. Since you're in Canada I guess you shouldn't be concerned with popularity because neither name is popular... in which case I'd still go with Josephine. I don't get people saying Caroline is trendy though... I think it's the opposite of trendy, it's like Jane and Mary but way less popular.

JosephineCaroline is trendier. Josephine sounds a lot better with Marilyn in my opinion.

They're both pretty names. I want to pick Caroline because it's not as common as Josephine. But I want to pick Josephine because it doesn't sound as similar to Marilyn. I think Caroline wins slightly though.

It's funny you say that because Caroline was #99 in 2007 while Josephine was #224! So Caroline is more popular, in the U.S. anyways (although I'm in Canada, but it's close enough). But either way that doesn't bother me since I have never met anyone with either name. Thanks!

HehI didn't actually look at the statistics, I was just going by what I've heard. I've heard of several baby girls named Josephine, but not one Caroline. :)

I far prefer Caroline to Josephine. But Marilyn and Caroline are too rhymey, so if you already have a Marilyn, Josephine is the better choice.

CarolineMarilyn and CarolineJosephine is not as common as Caroline but I think Caroline is much prettier. Only if you pronounce Caroline to rhyme with "wine", though. Caroline pronounced like Carolyn and Marilyn would be too similar.

Yes, I keep forgetting to mention that I definitely mean caro-line NOT caro-lyn. Carolyn and Marilyn would be way too much for me :PIs Caroline really popular? All the responses I'm getting are saying that one or the other is common and I have never met anyone with either name!

Yeah....I know I'm only a Dane, where only Caroline would be use and not Carolyn at all....But I've always heard Carolyn pronounced much different than Caroline, mostly on TV shows and in movies.Caroline is Caro-line and Carolyn is Caro-lyn. Very evident by the difference in spelling. You wouldn't pronounce Kathryn the same was as Katherine either. Right?Just an observation is all.

I personally would never pronounce Caroline as Caro-lyn, but it seems that everytime I post on here a lot of people say Marilyn and Caroline is 'rhymey' so I assume they are thinking Caro-lyn. I actually don't like the pronounciation Caro-lyn at all, and if I did I would spell it Carolyn. I like Caro-line.But... are Katherine and Kathryn really pronounced differently?

My aunt Catherine, pronounces it like cath-REEN.

There is someone at my work who pronounces her name (Catherine) like Ca-trine... but I think that's pretty rare.

My sister's name is Caroline pronounced caro-LINE and she hates, hates, hates when people call her caro-LYN. And she gets that quite a bit. To her (and me) are different names and I like Caroline so much more than Carolyn. As for Kathryn/Katherine I don't really differentiate between the two. I suppose Katherine and the likes ought to be pronounced with a middle syllable, but I think it's so soft that it usually falls out and becomes KATH-rin. My name is Catherine and most people just pronounce it with 2 syllables. I pronounce it with a slight middle syllable.

My name is Caroline and in Swedish the pronounciation is very similar to the French way of saying it. I recently moved to Ireland and I introduce myself as Caro-line. I think it's easier for me to say than the Carolyn pronounciation and the spelling makes it Caro-line in English imo. However, I've noticed that even though I introduce myself as Caro-line people tend to say it like Caro-lyn. I don't know why and it doesn't bother me since it's still my name in some way but they don't seem to make any difference between Caroline and Carolyn.

I don't think that Marilyn and Caroline is rhyme. Now if it was Marilyn and Carolyn... Now that'd be rhyme.A actually like Carolyn more than Caroline, because Caroline is much too common here in Denmark and have been on top 50 for years, literally. And I tend to like uncommon names.I've always heard those names being pronounced differently. Katherine would be done as ka-the-rine and Kathryn as kath-ryn. Again heard on some TV shows and in movies. But I'm up to being corrected here.

I hadn't read the other responses before I posted that Marilyn and Caroline are rhymey. It didn't occur to me that Caroline would be pronounced Caro-lyn. I think that Caro-line and Marilyn are still too rhymey.I don't pronounce Katherine and Kathryn differently. Just hearing the name said, you can't tell if it's Katherine or Kathryn. Or Catherine or Katharine, for that matter.

I prefer Caroline, because is is a beautiful name and because i dislike Josephine. I find Joseohine old fashioned as well as overused. However if you're looking for a mn for Marilyn i think that marilyn Josephine flows better than Marilyn Caroline (which i find quite a mouthful).

Both are nice, but Josephine is more interesting. I find Caroline overused. It's also a bit better with Marilyn, though both are rhymey.

Definitely Caroline, because I dislike Josephine. And Marilyn and Caroline definitely sounds best together. At least in my own ears.
