I love Martha and can easily picture it on a little girl, a three year old Martha lives down the street from me! I'm not fond of Mar as a nickname, I use mar as a noun fairly often and as a nickname, bothers me. I know a Marta my age (early 40's) who goes by Marty. While I like Marta, I dislike Marty and vastly prefer Martha.
