Parker on a girl
I really thought I'd hate this -- an initially I did -- but my friend likes Parker as a girl's name and it's really growing on me too. I know the whole boy's-name-on-a-girl thing is incredibly trendy, but I think it's really cute, especially with a feminine middle name. Currently I'm liking Parker Annabelle. What do you all think? Am I crazy?

I babysat a girl- Parker and her brother Patrick. They are so precious. I thought it was hard, but now that I say it outloud, it seems a feminine-boy name. I give nicknames to all the kids I watch, and I called her Parks which seems even more feminine to me.

I really dislike most surnamey names though some work well enough as first names others to me just look and sound odd and Parker is one I wouldnt use on a boy or a girl
I personally think its awful and very far from cute, because where I live a nosy Parker is a rude obnoxious person who pokes their nose into everyone elses business.

You're not crazy, you just have different tastes than me. I personally don't like masculine sounding surnames on girls. I do agree if you are going to do it, a very feminine middle name is a good idea.

Is Parker a really a boy's name, though? I only hear it as a surname, I've never met a man or boy named "Parker".I don't think it sounds like anyone's fn, but it's OK for someone else. Trendy, definitely.

Put it in the cellar and forget about it! ;0I would put this name in a hessian sack with others like Tucker and Payton, and never let them see the light of day again. There is something so empty about these names, I think for me, it is the lack of a tangible link with history. I like girls names with strength, feminity and history. Parker lacks it all.I don't like it for a boy for the same reason. It has that awful beige quality of the late 80's and early 90's. Not my style at all.Annabelle on the other hand is gorgeous.

I still think surnames should be left as surnames... Parker, Connor, etc. Seems people have really been getting into using surnames as given names... the one time that makes sense to me is when using the surname of another family member (like mother or grandmother) as a middle name to honour family roots. Just my oppinion.

I don't like it. It's what my stepsister named her baby girl. And believe me, that's not an endorsement. My stepsister is an incredibly vain, shallow, materialistic snob. She's the type of person I can see naming a girl Parker.

I think Parker works for a girl. Parker is the only surname I like as a first name, and it has a quirky kind of vibe on a female. I like it.Combo suggestions:Parker Rose
Parker Beatrice
Parker Suzanne
Parker Michelle
Parker May
Parker Leigh
Parker Elizabeth
Parker Eleanor
Parker Elaine
Parker Rachel

I really despise this name for a girl. It is too harsh sounding. I do however love it for a boy.

Honestly, I don't like it on either gender. To me, Parker Annabelle is the equivalent of Braeden Veronica or Deshaun Amelia - a pretty MN, but a masculine, unappealing FN. Sorry. :/

It's not the boy-ness of it so much as the pedestrianness of "parking." A "parker" is an anonymous average Joe, in older slang. Plus I have a sound association with "perky," which fits right in with the "spunky boyish" impression... I dunno. It's decent, but I sure as heck would not want to be a young woman introducing myself to everyone as "Parker." YMMV.

I love Parker on a girl [m]IMO Parker is unisex, it has Park and it's a surname all surnames minus ones with "son" are unisex to me.
