I like both Isabel and Isobel, slightly prefering Isobel, but I'm a little turned off by not just the populartiy, but the 3 realatively common spellings I'm aware of, Isabelle, Isabel, and Isobel. The more spelling variations, the greater the likelihood the name will be misspelled. But it is a great name. I much prefer it of the flowery Isabella. But I have to agree that my least favorite spelling is Isabelle, probabaly the most popular spelling. Isabelle, in addition to looking similar to Isabella, just looks more hick-ish to me.
