Message: "Nina" - Behind the Name

A lady I know just had a baby, and she named her Nina Grace. I was excited when I heard she had her baby, but the name was disappointing. I like her other children's names much better. Their names are Maya Jo and Maxwell James. I do not think Nina fits well with their names. So WDYT of Nina (and the other names)?

Nina reminds me of the noise made by an ambulance siren - nee-na, nee-na...

I'd like it more if I could get that association out of my head! There's nothing wrong with it per se and it is refreshing as it isn't used too much. I think it goes fine with Maya and Maxwell, in fact, I'm so glad they've dropped the m theme I probably wouldn't care what the third baby was called! Grace is a filler nn but again, it could have been much worse.

Nina is lovely, but I can never hear it without silently adding: "Pinta and the Santa Maria"!

I've always thought that Nina was adorable. It doesn't really go with Maya and Maxwell though. But I've seen worse sibsets. Maya Jo is alright. I prefer it spelled Maia. Maxwell James is just okay too. I wonder why they had the same initials for their older children, and not poor Nina? Also, Grace is very boring as a middle name.

I love Nina and Maya. Maxwell I don't care for because the nickname Max is too trendy.

Yay, Nina!

I've always thought Nina was underappreciated. It's classic, but perky and fun.

The mn Grace is a little disappointing to me, but it's not at all bad. Overall, I think she and the father did a nice job.

I actually think that Nina goes okay with Maxwell and especially well with Maya but I think Maxwell and Maya don't go well together. I love Maxwell James. Maya is nice but I prefer Maia and I don't like Jo, it's just a nickname to me. Nina is soooo popular in my country so I wouldn't use it. Grace is nice but such a filler middle name.

Germany...it was an 80s name here, really really popular from the late 1970s to the early 1990s. I went to school with several girls named Nina one of them was named Nina Linda. I also know a Nena (NAY-nuh). It still doesn't sound that outdated but it isn't really fashionable here anymore.

Nina is nice. I used to dislike it, but now I've warmed up to it.
Grace is so dull.
