I am not sure if I like it still, but lately it is starting to lose its middleaged stigma and seeming very soft and gentle. Curtains. It and Mamie and a few other names remind me of putting on lipstick, which is something I find appealing lately in names. Pamela. Soft and gentle and still healthy and interesting. This image was enhanced when I met a girl at EMF named Kathleen. Kathleen is a very softspoken but intelligent person, with light red hair and puzzlingly arrayed facial features. Very large eyes and eyelashes that made her look very striking and almost strikingly pretty when she made them up for concerts. I asked her middle name and she said Pamela. Kathleen Pamela. Isn't that a pretty and gentle combo? I could not have thought of a better name for her.
So anyway I guess wdyt Pamela. I dunno if I am shortlisting it but I may PNL it.

It's my youngest sister's name, and I've always liked it, and thought it was the best of all the names that my mother came up with.

I love it. It gets shortlisted on occasion. :D I thought it was kind of gross and middle-aged until I started watching The Office and fell in love with Pam, who is ADORABLE.
I don't really like the nn Pam though, ironically. Someone (I think it was jeziana) suggested Mel to me and I really like that. Dunno if that's your style though. I actually have a character in a story who is Pamela nn Mel (in the story, it's to distinguish her from her aunt who is Pamela nn Pam, not that her aunt is really in the story much).

I like it. Partly because of the sound, partly because of the Greek root, and partly because of The Office. heh

I prefer Pamela Kathleen. But in general, yes, very many lovely women with the name Pamela. The only downside is that, upon saying it, I think of Dinosaurs (like animated ones) and crayons. I guess, not awful for a little kid. I also think of red hair.

I don't really like the name Pamela but I love the nn Pam. I really would love to see either and its so cool that you met someone named Kathleen Pamela because that is a beautiful name.

Really, all I can think of when I see Pamela is really big fake boobs and no brain. I hate how names are ruined like that.
I'm not too fond of Irish names even if they are pretty most of the time. I find them TOO gentle. You know? They're nice but a bit boring. Maybe because I'm half Irish...

I like Pamela
It is like you say, soft and feminine without being frilly or silly. Very classy name, and it works well on any age.
The only thing stopping me from truly loving it, is the almost inevitable nn Pam. Pam just sounds hard, like a slap on the ear, plus it's the name of a nonstick spray you put on your baking pans, and my husband's incredibly annoying aunt.

I love Pamela. It is round and full and soft. Unfortunately, I can not stand Pam, which I believe does it no justice, and for that reason I could only ever consider it in the second name spot. Kathleen Pamela is charming, which surprises me that I feel that way because in general I much prefer Katherine to Kathleen.
