I don't care for Jasper for a girl. Even though she's a pet and wouldn't know the difference, people will always think that she's a male dog given her name. How about Jasmine, Jazz, or Jazzy?

On a dog, I think it's fine. Naming rules go out the window with animals, IMO.

For a dog, sure. Seems like a really great choice for that dog. For a human girl, no.

Have you ever seen "Rebecca," the 1940's Hitchcock version? In it Maxim has a dog named Jasper that looks just like your dog.

It's a very masculine name to me. A good friend of mine/my husband's best friend is named Jasper, so that makes it even harder for me to picture it on a girl.

Fine for a dog. Not good for a human girl.
