I know a Shirley. My sister-in-law. She's shrill, loud-mouthed, and tactless. I don't really dislike her though, because she's well-meaning. Shirley just seems too 1930's to me, though Shirley herself was born in the 50's.

It's my mom's name and she doesn't particularly like it, nor do I. She was named for her aunt. My mom wouldn't want me to use her name, and I remember her saying that a few times, lol. I'll see what I could do with her middle name instead.

I don't really like it, it seems so old and mothballish. Having said that, I know a Shirley, and she is only in her thirties, but I just can't can't seem to like the name.

I just started liking myself. I think it would sound so cute on a little girl. I will admit that Shirley Temple helps its case a bit. :)
