Mercedes
In the past week I met two girls named Mercedes. One was 7 years old- she spelled her name traditionally (Mercedes) and went by Mercey. The other was around 3- she spelled her name Mercaedes and her parents called her Caedy (prn. like Katie.) WDYT? I don't really like the name Mercedes but I think Mercey is a cute nickname.

I do like the name Mercy but I know that I would have to use Mercedes to ever use it. Oh well...The name is growing on me but I know I'll still never use it.
I love the name Mercedes, but never though of Mercey as a nickname for it, but it is really cute!!

To Mercaedes looks like mer-KAY-deez or mer-KAY-des not Mercedes. I would assume her parents picked that spelling so they could use the nn Caedy.
I like Mercedes but I don't care for Mercey.

I always associate Mercedes with the car. Nevertheless, I think it's a pretty name. It's very rare now, and I think I've only ever come across one girl with that name.
I like the traditional spelling better. To me, the advantage of a recognisable name is that you're not constantly spelling it out for people - so there's no point changing it.
I think I like the nn Cedie(pronounced Sadie)I just prefer it to Mercey.

I would love the name Mercedes if hadn't been for the cars my mum has always driven. She's always had a Mercedes for as long as I can remember, so whenever I hear the name, I automatically think of the car. It's really aggravating, because it's such a pretty name!

I love Mercedes
I associate it with the fiancee of Edmond Dantes in "The Count of Monte Christo", not with the car. The car was named after a woman, it was a female name before it was a car's name.
The doctor we went to last week was named Mercedes. I prefer Mercedes spelt the traditional way. Mercy is ok, but I prefer Cedie (like Sadie).

Agree to both.
Mercedes is a beautiful name, though difficult to pull off as a first name thanks to the association. :/
Mercaedes is dreadful; caedes is a Latin word for carnage, murder, etc. Shudder!

I prefer Mercedes as a MN. My sister-in-law is named Helena(pronounced Eh-lay-nuh)Mercedes and I think it is beautiful!

Helena Mercedes is very pretty!
I really like the name Mercedes. I'm not going to lie, either: I originally liked it because it was a car name. Now, however, I've kind of disassociated it with the car and just think of it as a name.
Mercy is a sweet nickname. I like Caedy too, but spelt "Cadey". Where I live, we pronounce Katie with a hard T ("KAY-tee"), so it doesn't sound the same to me.
