Cherub
A few years ago, I met a woman who had two little girls, Micah (which is so outrageously masculine to me I was sad to see it on a little girl), and Cherub.Cherub at the time seemed super cute, because she was a baby, and a very cherubic one at that. Now I saw them in the shops a few days ago and Cherub was a tall lanky, average looking little girl. I was struck with how unfortunate she was to be stuck with a name like Cherub.Do you think Cherub's name will be inappropriate for a grown woman? Do you think she will feel pressure because of it? What are your thoughts on it.

What kind of name is Cherub?

Cherub is ridiculous. It really won't age well. I can't imagine someone going to a job interview and having to introduce herself as Cherub X. Some parents just don't seem to realize their kids aren't going to be babies all their lives. It also gives the idea of someone slightly overweight. And Micah for a girl is really depressing.

Speaking of Micah, I met a woman recently whose name was Myka (i.e. Micah) and it actually suited her pretty well.I think Cherub is an awful name for a person. I wouldn't even name a pet Cherub.

Yes, I think Cherub is inappropriate for a grown woman. Not only is it a baby name, but it conveys, well, chubbiness. I think a teenage girl/young woman would have problems with that.

I don't care for it at all. If you must have the element 'cherub' in the name I would go with the Italian name Cherubina but I don't really like that one very much either.

Maybe she would go by Cher as an adult?I do think parents often name their kids in the moment and with not much thought for even a few years down the line in school, let alone adulthood. Not saying all parents are like that, but def. some.C.
