Australian diver called Briony
And all the announcers are saying it bree-OH-nee.
I would've said it BRY-ah-nee.
WDYT?
How would you say it?

I love the name but spelt Bryony....
bree-OH-nee
I think that's the way most Aussies pronounce it though, as bree-OH-nee. I'm an Aussie and that's how I've always pronounced it.
In England...
they're pronouncing it BRYE-uh-nee (like Brian-ee). I'd never heard of BREE-uh-nee, bree-OH-nee or any other pronounciation until I strted frequenting this site.

Yes Brian-ee is how I would pronouce it, I don't like bree-Oh-nee at all.
I know a Bryony - and prefer that spelling.
Her name is pronounced Bry-OH-nee. I love it.

I think its alright if you pronounce it BRY-on-nee.
Really? I swear they said BRIE-ah-nee when I heard it. Maybe I heard it that way because that's how I'd say it. :)
I'd say it either way. My Uncle's ex wife was named Briony (bry-OH-nee) and I have heard it as bree-OH-nee as well. I knew a girl once named Breeony (bree-OH-nee)
Man, I need to learn how to read. I kept thinking it said 'driver' and I swore your subject line said 'cab driver'. I could not figure out how so many people here had a cab driver with the same name.
I pronounce it BREE-uh-nee.
I pronounce it BREE-uh-nee.
My favorite name in the world is Bryony, and I pronounce it BRY-ah-nee...I prefer Briony pronounced BRY-ah-nee as well, but I can understand the BREE-ah-nee pronunciation.
I always assume that Briony = Brian-E, myself. All the announcers here have called her BREE-uh-nee, though, and referred to her as Bri for short.

They are actually saying it like bree-OH-nee here.
OH - exactly like the letter O.
On another note, there's an Aussie gymnast called Olivia Vivian. Just thought that was kind of amusing...

And an Aussie swimmers name Tarnee, Liesel, and Libby Trickett which is fun.
Yes, but we're in two different countries. :) As I said, the (American) announcers that I've been watching have referred to her as BREE-uh-nee, whether or not that's accurate to her own pronunciation.
I haven't seen Olivia Vivian, but I'm digging her name. ;D
