Safiya would be a better full name for Saffy. I'd prefer Sapphira, Sapphire, Saphrona, or Saffron myself.

NN's can be anything IMO, so Saffy is 'legal' for Cynder as much as anything else, though it doesn't make a lot of sense. It'd have to have a story behind it as it wouldn't come straight from Cynder.

Cynder as a fn is awful with really terrible connotations imo.

I don't see how Saffy would be a nickname for Cynder. You're better off with Safiya.

I don't see how you would get Saffy out of Cynder. It would be like somebody being named Robert and being nicknamed Donnie.

And I don't think Cynder makes a good name for a girl human at all. I think it's silly, matter of fact. But if it's for a dragon, Cinder would work and doesn't need a nn.

I think it's fine but I prefer Cinder.
