Meridian
I'm expecting #3 and a neighbor girl said that there's a girl in her camp named Meridian. I think it's kind of pretty now, though I don't think I would actually use it. The kid's last name is Ruby, which I don't know about but Ruby for a last name might just be difficult to connect with in general. What do you think of Meridian?

I live right near a Meridian Township and work at the Meridian Mall (located in said township).Needless to say, it sounds completely bizarre as a name to me.

Sorry. Double post.Especially seeing as it's a girl child. Meridian sounds much too masculine for me, and I don't like it at all. The first thing that comes to mind is Meridian Lane, which is a street near where I live, but right after that is the Prime Meridian, which a bunch of people have already said.Ruby Meridian would sound much more realistic to me, with Meridian as the surname... but hey.

Meridian Ruby is a nice name. I wouldn't use Meridian because it's a dorm at my college; while it's not a bad connotation, it's not really a preferable one. However, meridian is a nice - almost regal-sounding - word.

It has a pretty sound, but it doesn't work well as a first name.

It seems incredibly bizarre to me because it is the name of a power company. But whatevs. Sounds nice enough I suppose. Random words don't really do much for me as names (Says she who's favourite name is Rose @.@)

I like it.

I really don't like it. It does have a nice sound, but there's a town not far from me named Meridian so I just don't see it working as a FN.

agree as wellIt does sound nice, but would be weird as a name.

That's the thingIt really does have a very nice sound, and is really quite similar to other names in etymological characteristics (beginning being a derivative of Mary, ending in "ian"), but I just can't get over the geography connection. It's almost a shame, because it really could be a lovely name.

I like the geography connectionI don't much care for the sound of Meridian, but I like the Prime Meridian connection.I'm partial to names of rivers and geographical features, though:-)

Oh man so do I, believe me. Go check out my GP list in my profile (non-linked names). It's filled with country and city names, albeit very obscure ones. Like Damascus, Sarajevo and Zurich. But I tend to connect those with culture, though. I'm really not that wild about names like River, Mountain, Ocean, etc., though. They just bother me. Not sure why. But man do I love Aegean as a name! =P

I guess the sound is sort of pretty, but I would never use it. It basically just means "center." Ruby would be such a cool last name to have!I think Meredith or Marielle would work a lot better.
