Salome
I really like the name Salome. I love the flow of the name and I love the play written by Oscar Wilde. What do you think? What kind of nick names would you suggest? Also, I know the pronunciation is different, but do you think a girl named 'Salome' would be teased and called 'Salami'?Thanks :)

Salome is a pretty name. I hadn't made the connection to 'salami' before since I pronounce the name SAL-oh-may, but it's a possibility that other kids might call her Salami. I prefer the SAL-oh-may pronunciation even though the database lists it as se-LOH-mee. se-LOH-mee is NMS (I think it's too close to 'salami'). If you're going with se-LOH-mee, Sully would be a cute nn. For SAL-oh-may, I like Sal as a nn.

I assume you're pronouncing Salome sa-LOH-mee. Yes, I think salami teasing is a possibility. I did a poll a while back on the pronunciation of the name and SAL-oh-may got the most votes, actually. And people who never have seen the name will pronounce it sa-LOHM. I think that's the biggest problem. Very ambiguous pronunciation.

Everyone gets teased about something at some point of their life. It is a beautiful name, but the first thing I thought of was the Salome in the bible, who was a seductress.
