Re: Irish, Celtic, Welsh, or Gaelic Names
in reply to a message by KierstenDani
First of all, the only actual Irish/Celtic/Welsh/Gaelic (Irish and Welsh are both Celtic; Gaelic encompasses both Scottish and Irish) names you have here are Kiera, Roisin, Teagan and Tristan. Evelyn, Rose, Hayden, and Harrison are all English (which is from the Germanic language family, not Celtic), and Jadon and Jude are Hebrew. Arwen isn't technically Gaelic, but Tolkien based Elvish on Irish Gaelic. Sorry I'm a complete language nerd! To answer your actual question, I like:
Evelyn, Arwen, Kiera (prefer spelt Ciara though), Tristan and Harrison. My favourite is Arwen by quite a bit. I also like Ireland (not Irelyn), but would suggest that you don't use it if you're living anywhere near Ireland.
Some other Irish names:
Niamh (NEEV)
Sinead (shi-NAYD)
Aoife (prn EE-fa)
Eilis (EYE-lish)
Siobhan (sha-VAUGHN)
Sean
Declan
Ciaran
Liam
Some other Welsh names:
Sian (SHAHN)
Ceinwen (KAIN-win)
Ceridwen (actually not too sure about this one, but I think it's either KEAR-id-win or KEAR-ith-win (kear to rhyme with wear))
Anything you like?
ETA to add Siobhan
