Ziv
Ziv (zeev) on a girl? It's listed as unisex but I was just wondering what your thoughts were. I know Ziva is the feminine, but Ziv just feels more fun :)And while we're here, WDYT of Maris? It's grown on me a lot recently.

For a girl, I much prefer Ziva. I like Zvi for a boy.

I don't like Ziv on a girl.
If you called her Ziva she'd have a pretty name to serve her through life, and the fun nn Ziv as well.

my brother went to elementary-high school with a ZivAnd they were classmates as well. I didn't and still don't think much of this name. He was a boy though, not a girl.
For a girl, well after knowing Ziv personally, I can't imagine it on a girl! Moshe is better. :D~diamond

Ziv is too masculineDefinitely MUCH more masculine than feminine to me. Ziva is beautiful on a girl, but Ziv is much more common on a boy (in my experience). I adore Zev for a boy, also; meaning "wolf" in Hebrew. Another problem you might run across is people screwing up the pronunciation. 99% of the great unwashed (i.e., non-name-nerds) is going to say Ziv with the -i- as in "give."Maris... love it. I wish my parents had picked it instead of Meryl for my mn... come to think of it, anything would have been better than Meryl. :-P

I agree Ziv is much funnier than Ziva. Zivvy. :) I want to try some combos with it:
Ziv Adamina
Ziv Earline
Ziv Odilia
Ziv Drusilla - Voila! I like this.
Ziv Rosalba
Ziv Alexandrine
Ziv-Liv Matilda
Ziv-Liv Morwenna
Ziv Polina
Ziv UrsulineAh, I think I like Ziv!I have problems with Maris as a feminine name - as far as I've understood, it is used as a masculine at least name in Latvia. I also know a male Maris... Maris could also possibly have Latin root mas, maris meaning "male". But, all in all, Maris is a very pretty name. It is also a pretty female name. What a shame I see Maris as a masculine name!

My grandmothers name is Siw (also spelled Siv) and in english I would prn it zeev. I prefer the Zeev spelling, or just Ziva.
Maris is okey :)

I'd prefer Ziva. Ziv does seem more masculine and rather short. It would be better as a nickname, I think.Maris is growing on me but I'd only want it pronounced MAH-ris/MAR-is not MAIR-is. I don't know which would be the posted common in the UK though I'm guessing the latter as Paris is PAH-ris, Harris is HAH-ris etc. OT slightly but I have the same problem with Maren - I want MAH-ren not MAIR-in. Maris is good though if it's pronounced the way I want ;)
