The thing about virtues is there's always another side to the story. Patience and Temperance never take risks or do anything for themselves. Honor can border on vengeance. Clemence is weak and passive. Prudence, though probably the best of the lot, is like Patience- unimaginative and unwilling to take risks. That said, there's enough precedence for Pru to be unnoticed in that way- until she does something imprudent, of course- and to have a flavour of its own as a name. Together, the four names you mention call to mind the American Colonial era (and I'm not American).

I hate it. Always wondered why The Beatles made a song about a girl with such an ugly name

I believe that the song was written about a real Prudence, the sister of Mia Farrow, who (meaning Prudence) accompanied them on their trip to India.

Prudence is a horrible name. I don't like virtue names, and this, in my opinion, is the ugliest one. But at least she'd have a Beatles song with her name in it.

I dislike most word names, but I do like Prudence, it's got that kind of Puritan austere charm to it. I think it would work well with the other names.Prudence Hannah
Prudence Julie
Prudence Amelia
Prudence Eleanor
Prudence Caroline
Prudence Claire

All I can think of is Prude. It's... too much. Plus, I generally just dislike all virtue names bigtime. Prue is a cute nn and it does go really well with the other names, but Prudence just isn't for me.

Love this name! It always reminds me of the Beatles' song. It has a nice soft sound to it and Prue is a good, useable nickname.
