I prefer Kat too, as a nn for Katrina, or Katerina. Cat obviously sounds the same but since it is spelled like cat I tend to think of the animal more than with Kat.

It's cute and spunky. I knew a person with Cat as her given name.

I think Cat is a very cute nn for Catherine. I prefer Cate as a nn for Caitlin.

I love the nn Cat, but I think Kat is a better spelling.
