Abraham.
I was wondering how you guys feel as Abraham for a boy these days, possibly with the nickname Bram (Bram is a common name in my country)? Is it too old-fashioned, or would you consider it a name with a great legacy (Abraham Lincoln, for example)? Can you actually picture a young boy named Abraham, or is it too much a name for old(er) men?Just curious to your opinions. :)

It's at the top of my list and I prefer the nn Abe.
Bram is nice, too, though.

I'm not sure. I wouldn't use Abraham. Maybe Abram, it has a younger feel. Bram is a favourite though. Abraham could grow on people.

It is very distinguished and strong.I makes me think of Abraham Lincoln first, then Abraham of the bible, and then an older african-american with a grand-frather figure.I think it would be rather refreshing on a little boy. But he might need the nickname Bram. Abram doesn't sound as cumbersome as Abraham seems to. Abe it also a cute nickname. It'll certainly make people think of 'Honest Abe' and that's a good thing I think!
He'll have a good image as soon as he says his name! :)Overall it has a very good image in my mind! :)

Abraham is fantastic! Very distinguished, and it has a lot of character. Bram reminds me of Bram Stoker, but that isn't a terrible association or an overwhelming one. Personally, I think Abraham would be adorable on a little boy. :-)

I don't like Bram (I just think of vampires) but Abraham to me has such noble connotations, being the name of one of the greatest, if not the greatest, president we ever had. It's a pity to me that it never gained in popularity after Lincoln's death.

I prefer Abram over Abraham; the actual history and age of the two names aside, Abram seems more adaptable for a "modern" boy, as Abraham strikes me as being a little dated. It being a name with a legacy (Abraham Lincoln comes to mind first) kind of leaves it in the 19th century for me.

I personally think it's very old sounding. I immediately think of the Bible. I do like Bram though. I would prefer it as a full name than Abraham.Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I love it. I think it would be very refreshing to see a little guy with such a distinguished name. Not to mention that Bram is a perfect nn for a little guy.

Personally, I wouldn't name a child Abraham. If you are not christian it would be strange and if you are it would seem (the key to this statement is seem) pretentious. Bram, however, is very cute and could age well.come to the edge,

come to the edge!
and they came.
and he pushed.
and they flew.

I'm not a Christian, but I like the way the name looks and sounds - it sounds very sophisticated to me. :)
