Bryn
I have noticed a lot of people on this board like Bryn for a girl or assume it is a girl's name.
It's a Welsh name and as far as I'm aware it is only used for boys in Wales. (I'm live in Britain). I don't know any Bryns personally but I have come across men named Bryn in magazines and on the news (mainly Welsh men). It's really starting to grow on me a lot as a boy's name.
I just wondered how many girls you have known with the name compared to boys. Also do you like it?

I've known a couple of girls with this name, and I like it for both a girl and a boy. Its versatile.
I don't know anyone with this name and it strikes me as completely male. Strange on a girl.
I don't like it much on boys either. Reminds me of brine.

I've only ever known female Brynns--by which I mean two. One in dance some years ago, and one in college.
I much prefer Bryn(n) on a boy, personally, and always have, but as with Darcy and a few other names, I think it's one that works about equally nicely on either sex.
And I'm in the US. :)

I live in Britain too & I grew up with one male Bryn (aged 18 now) so its male to me aswell.
I love it as a name for boys, it annoys me when its used as a girls name.

Being a Brit too
I've also only seen/heard it on males. I had an English teacher in school called Bryn Lastname and that's sealed it as a male name in my mind.
If I saw a female Bryn (or Brynn) being used here I'd think the parents were very swayed by American trends so would expect siblings to be called Madison, Bailey, Tyler, Jayden etc. I hope it remains 'male' here and I've not seen it used on a girl as yet. I think it might remain male because of Rob Brydon's character in 'Gavin and Stacey'. Outside of Wales the programme will possibly be the only experience that most people have of the name Bryn and there's nothing feminine about Rob Brydon really.
I love Bryn and Brynn and I think I would use them. Theodore Bryn is my second combo at the moment.

Agree
I also had a (male and Welsh) teacher at school named Bryn. It's definitely a male name to me too.

I have it on my PNL as a boy's name. I think as a girl's name it sounds trendy, but I think it's handsome on a boy. It's really more a GP of mine though because it would seem too feminine to most people.
