Kilda?
I was watching a programme on St Kilda last night (Britain's Lost World on BBC1) and it struck me that Kilda makes a nice name. Unfortunately it isn't really a saint so I can't pass it off as an obscure saint's.
So, WDYT of Kilda (for a girl)? Should it just go on my list as a GP or could it work (it rhymes with Hilda and Tilda after all and other Scottish islands/places are used - Iona, Skye, Isla, Moray etc)? Sadly, it doesn't really offer any decent nn options but then there are other 'proper' names that don't either
Possible combos:
Kilda Rosemary
Kilda Francesca
Kilda Rosalind
Kilda Beatrice
Kilda Grace
Kilda Poppy
Kilda Josephine
Kilda Isabel
Kilda Verity
Kilda Cecily
Kilda Mary
Kilda Jean
Kilda Maeve
Kilda Harriet
Kilda Jane
Kilda Florence
Kilda Emmeline
Am I mad for considering it?

I dislike the KILL sound.
I love Iona, Skye, Isla, Moray and Ailsa. Love them to pieces. :-)
Sadly, I don't see Kilda working as a fn, at least here in the U.S. maybe in the U.K. where it wouldn't sound so unusual. The problem here in the U.S. is twofold: (1) the "kill" sound and (2) the similarity to Hilda. I love Hilda, but it's definitely not a favorite over here.
Cillian is starting to catch on in certain circles, but still not in most places. I fear Kilda wouldn't stand a chance.
It would make a great mn, though. There's no reason not to use it, just not as a fn.

It's like Hilda but.. Kilda. I vote it goes on the GP list.
