Terrilyn
I have really come to like the name Terrilyn. However, I am worried that it seems a bit too kre8tiv...I have know people with the name Taralyn, Tara Lynn and I saw the name Terrilyn somewhere once, so I didn't make it up. What do you guys think?

I'm okay with combo names. Terri Lynn, Terilyn, Tara Lynn or Taralyn are good, Tarilyn (like Marilyn) would be original and okay...although not my style at all. Terrilyn does suggest the word terrible. Tarylin or Terylin would look neat but be annoying to spell. (Reminds me of Teryl Rothery the actress)

It's two nicknames smushed together.
If you love it, that is great. But you love it purely for phonetic reasons. To me, loving a name for only phonetics is slightly cheap. I was nearly named Layna instead of Emma. I am a million times happier with Emma. Layna is pretty but that is its only real quality. Emma is pretty and historical and etymological. Terrilyn is just pretty.

It looks totally make up: Terri+lyn, and with Terri being a nn to begin with I think it's awful.
Theresa Lynn would be better imo.

Makes me think of terrible. Don't like it.
ditto + really dislike kre8tive spellings
Tritto.
Terri Lynn would be better, though it's not my personal style. I am not a fan of creatrive name spellings at all.

I haven't seen Terrilyn before - but have seen Terilyn? I always thought it was an American combination name (Teri and Lyn) - but babynamer suggests it's of German origin. While the site is often apparently inaccurate (according to BtNers :) - it would still be interesting to follow up whether this historic reference is legit?

Thanks for the link :D
Well, I haven't read the other responses yet. I imagine I'm not the only one to point out the similarity to "Terrible."
I would steer clear of it for that one reason alone.

To be brutally honest, it's awful. Not only because it's kr8tiv but visually it really makes me think of words like "terrible" and "terror". Taralyn is already better.
I have a cousin named Teri-Lynn, that's might be how she spells it, I'm not too sure.
It sounds very 1960s/1970s, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but the name is definitely nms. I personally prefer Sherilyn / Sherrilyn, which is also nms, but it sounds softer. If you were to end up using Terrilyn, I would recommend using the spelling Taralyn. I much prefer the nickname Tara to Terri.

All I see is 'terrible'. Or maybe 'terror'. Also, there will be pronunciation issues because it looks like it should be Terry Lynn, not Tara Lynn.
I think it sounds too made up...and it is.
I know a girl named Taryn. I think of a sweet, hard-working blonde when I hear this name, because that's what she was... It's a much prettier choice and a better flow than Terrilyn.
erm... I just think it sounds to much of a mouthful... it's probably not original, i hate to disappoint you.
Its not original- as I said, I know of a few girls with variations of that name. I just wanted to see if anyone had some info about it, and what your thoughts were. Thanks for your input though...
Terrorlyn
It looks like Terrorlyn, and the "-lyn" ending is destined to be dated, I'm sure. I'd pass on this name.

I honestly had never made the terror connection until people started saying that here...Making me really think twice about this...I think it will just have to remain a guilty pleasure.
