Polymnia

I love the name, but I'm not so fond of the English pronunciation of it. I dislike Polly as a nickname partly because of that.
I prefer Polyhymnia which is one of my favorite names. I think it's best as a middle name and that's the only thing I would use it as.
I don't really think muse names work too well for modern children (well, depends where you live, I suppose). Personally, I love Calliope and Clio but probably would never use them (plus everybody would think Clio is for Cleopatra...)
Polymnnia is a beautiful name though, and Polly works well as a nickname.

I actually just added it to my PNL recently and I love it. The nn Polly is just adorable for it!
When I see it, I think it should be the Latin Polyhymnia. The 'poly' part puts me off, though. In terms of Greek muses, I like Aoide / Aoede and Melete.
Maybe Persephone, Penelope or Parthenope nn Polly?

Odd... I've only seen this name spelled Polyhymnia. According to this site, it's spelled Polymnia, but I checked Wikipedia and the way I thought it was spelled is how they spell it too. Actually, they said Polymnia was a genus of some plant. Perhaps Polymnia and Polyhymnia are just variations of the same name then.
Anyway, I think it's a pretty name and I love that it's the name of the muse of sacred music, but too much of a mouthful to be used in real life.
ETA: Oh, Polyhymnia was clickable and now my question has been answered! I thought I'd leave it in case anyone else wondered the same thing.

I don't really like it as a first name, but as a middle name, I don't think it'd bother me as much. Also, Polymnia reminds me of polygamy for some reason.
