I don't particularly care for the name, but that's probably due to a negative association. I do like that it comes from an era of names that aren't really used right now, so by the time your child comes of age it may seem very fresh. I don't think that era of names is due for a revival any time soon, so you won't have to worry about there being 4 other Traceys in her class at school.

If you don't like Tracey, you could try using part of the name -- Trace, Tralena, Tracinda, Trava (Czech, "spring grasses") -- or using it as MN. Or you could use Teresa or Theresa, which is where Tracey comes from in the first place. I knew a girl in elementary school called Tressie, a family NN for Teresa. It's similar to Tracey, but less common.

If you want to use Tracey to honour someone, but you don't like so much, it's really better to use it as a mn. Personally I find the name dated and trashy.

I feel neutral on this name, neither loving it nor hating it. I think that if you don't absolutely love it, you should honor the Tracey you know by using it as a middle name, and not try to come up with a first name that sounds like it or is a form of it.

Along with Sharon it was big in Britain in the 1960s and is seen as dated and downmarket.
Thérèse, as an alternative, might be worth considering (accents and all!).

I really dislike Tracey. It's ugly, and seems just very "80's" ie dated, and not in a good way. Perhaps honour her by calling a daughter Stacey, which in my opinion is much better.

If you don't love it, don't use it. There are other ways to honour someone. Or you could use it as a mn, or a variation of the name, or use it as a nn for another name.
How about Theresa nn Tracey? Or Beatrice, Patricia, Temperance?

I don't like it much, sorry. It sounds awfully dated and a bit downmarket, especally spelled that way. I remember my mom calling it a redneck name once.
