Eleanor or Elinor?

Elinor!
It's my second favorite girl name at the moment. For some reason that spelling looks the best to me.

Eleanor.
Eleanor
Eleanor for me.
Elinor. Cuter and I prefer the spelling. But I like both names pretty much.
Elinor
Eleanor, but I find both spellings lovely and acceptable.

Everyone will misspell Elinor. At least in Britain, where Eleanor has been steadily used for decades. So I'd only go with the 'i' if you really like it that way and don't mind correcting people.
As for me ... I don't much care for my name but I do like the spelling.

same for the US.
I've been worrying this one over myself right now. Eleanor / Elinor is my 3rd current favourite.
I think I'm leaning towards Eleanor myself - I don't hear much of a difference myself though, for me they're just different spellings. Elinor has the appeal of 'Sense and Sensibility'. Gach, it's far too difficult for me!
Eleanor / Elinor is a beautiful name anyways! Do you have a combo for it? I need one, LOL. I was thinking of Eleanor Sara or Eleanor Elizabeth (my sister is Sarah Elizabeth Liberty and my favourite book is by Sara Gruen) or maybe Eleanor Rose (Roseanna is my best friend). None of them really stand out to me though.

Does Ella make you think of an elephant.?
Because it does me. That's why I don't like Ella. I've always thought it was so unnattractive, and don't understand its popularity.

I agree with you and I'd say Elinor just because it's less popular overall. It looks different without seeming created or contrived.
I was going to say Elinor
Exactly because of the Sense and Sensibility character. But I also love the Eleanor Roosevelt connection, being American.
But, overall, Elinor. I think it looks younger and fresher, and I love the character too much to use any different spelling. I also like i's. They look spunky to me, and lend the name a whole different feeling, one which I like better.
