Evangeline
What do you think of the name Evangeline? Is the name too over the top?
Replies
Not at all. It's beautiful.
After I read Uncle Tom's Cabin in high school, I loved the name and combo Evangeline Clare. Clare is a family name to me, and I love the way it flows, even if it was inspired by the book.
Also, if she isn't as feminine as the name is, the nn choices abound, as others have pointed out.

I love this name but dh hates it. He stares at me like I just sprouted snakes from my head when I suggest it.
I think it's lovely, and while it may be a bit "out there", it is definitely not over the top!

It's a bit out there to me. I prefer Eve (ev) or Evie (ev-ee).

It's not too over the top at all! I think it's lovely preferably as a mn.
I don't hate it but I don't love it. I would smile and say "that's so nice" if I saw someone else's child with that name.
Evangeline is pretty, but I don't know if I would use it. It's one of those neutral names that I don't love, but don't hate. I don't think it's at all far out, or anything; it's a nice name for someone else's child :)
