WDYTO Layne? (girl)
The young lady who moved next door to us is named Layne. I just yesterday found out how it's spelled, and that it's not a nickname, but a full name. She says she hates it.I like it. I think it's rather pretty, but it's not something I would use just because I tend to prefer more formal, traditional names.Do you like Layne for a girl?

The only persone I ever met named Layne was a girl so I think that it is okay.

I dislike the name on a girl.I like it spelled Lane for a boy, though. The name is quite masculine, in my opinion.

I don't like the "lay" spelling at all, lol.Lane is ok but I much prefer it on a boy.

I don't like itI'd prefer it spelled Lane, and I know a male Lane, so seeing it on a girl is a bit jarring to me, as I'd not considered it a girls' name.

I don't think I'd hate Layne if it were my name, but I think the Y cheapens it a bit. (I do think Jayne is fine, so I'm not sure why.)Lane looks a lot classier, and is attractive for a man or a woman imo. I think Lane is a full name is preferable to cutesy Laney, anyway.

as a nn for Elaine, but not on it's own. A lane is a narrow passageway, to me it would be like naming your child road or street, although I'm not sure you use the word Lane in streetnames as much in America so it might not be so strange there.

I know a girl called Layne and everyone mishears it as Elaine, it drives her mad!I don't like the appearance or the feel of Layne. It feels so trendy and lacking in something.
