WDYTO Hewett?
I met someone whose last name was Hewett but he went by this instead of his first name. To my surprise I'm really liking it, as much as I dislike Hugh. Go figure. Anyway, opinions?

I'm with you: I find Hugh to be a distasteful name, but Hewett is rather cute. It's a bit pretentious, though. It sounds like the name of a gentleman in a Jane Austen novel.

You're right, it does sound very Jane Austen-esque! I agree on the pretentiousness. I think it worked for him because it was actually his last name.

Sorry but I find it really horrible. It's surnamey and unpleasant-sounding.

It looks like it should be Hewlett to me.

It comes across as a surname to me, which is fine, as long as it's a family surname, rather than a random one. Just my opinion, though.

I like it, but exclusively as a LN. I'm not a big fan of surnames as FN's.
